Division of Molecular Toxicology obtains large grant for research on drug-induced liver injury

Nico Vermeulen from the Division of Molecular Toxicology and his staff members Dr. Jan Commandeur and Dr. Chris Vos have obtained a large grant for an Innovative Medicine Initiative project. With this funding, they aim to develop new test systems for drugs causing drug-induced liver injury in humans.
AIMMS awards for researchers Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Two 'HPC Europa' Fellowships for Theoretical Chemistry
03-29-12Two young researchers, Bartosz Zarzycki (MSc.)and Dr. Jordi Poater, have been granted an HPC Europa fellowship which enables them to work up to three months in the Theoretical Chemistry group of Prof. Matthias Bickelhaupt. HPC Europa is a competitive funding program in the field of high-performance computing, a topic that plays a key role in the VU Theoretical Chemistry Department.
Professor Ingelman-Sundberg appointed as Nauta Chair 2012

Opening the Gates of Brain Receptors
03-26-12Pharmaceutical scientists from VU University Amsterdam and colleagues from the Medical University of Vienna have gained new insights into the molecular basis of the GABA receptors, an important class of brain receptor involved in regulating the excitation of nerve cells. Their results were published online on March 25 in the prestigious journal Nature Chemical Biology.
