Dr. Chris de Graaf performed his PhD in the Division of Molecular Toxicology at VU University Amsterdam on computational ligand binding mode and affinity predictions in cytochrome P450 enzymes between 2002 and 2006. He then joined the structural chemogenomics research group at the University of Strasbourgh. As a postdoctoral fellow, he worked in collaboration with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals on the development and application of novel G-protein coupled receptor modeling techniques.
In 2009, Chris de Graaf was appointed assistant professor in the Division of Medicinal Chemistry at VU University. Currently, he is responsible for the computer-aided drug design research line, complementing the synthetic medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology programs. He obtained a Veni-grant in 2009 to develop selective and integrative structure-based virtual screening strategies against intended and undesired protein targets.
